Synopsis

Already famous for cracking cases that stump the police, Shinichi Kudo is a high school detective prodigy with a reputation that precedes him. Then he witnesses something he shouldn't, gets poisoned by a shadowy criminal organization, and wakes up in the body of a seven-year-old. Instead of dying, he just... shrunk. Now going by 'Conan Edogawa,' he moves in with his childhood friend Ran and her dad Kogoro, a bumbling private detective, and secretly solves cases from the shadows while Kogoro takes all the credit. The whole time, Conan is quietly hunting for leads on the organization that did this to him. What makes this TV series work is the mysteries themselves. They're genuinely well-constructed — the kind where you can pause and try to figure it out before the reveal, and sometimes you actually can. The comedic moments land naturally between the tension, and watching a kid outsmart every adult in the room never really gets old. With over 1,000 episodes since 1996, there's serious character depth and an overarching plot that slowly builds in the background. You don't need to watch everything to enjoy it, but the long game is rewarding if you stick around. If you liked The Kindaichi Case Files or Detective School Q, this is the one that defined the detective anime genre. Gosick fans who want something more grounded and episodic would feel right at home here too. It's cozy, it's clever, and the mysteries have real bite to them.

i couldn't help but predict the killer again and ofc i was right. it is actually so sad that the manager was driven to murder just because he loved the art like his own children and wanted to protect the museum from becoming a hotel. conan's attention to detail is crazy tho

ran is already so incredibly suspicious of conan's true identity it honestly makes me laugh so hard wondering how he managed to keep this secret from her for over a thousand episodes. you really just have to throw logic out the window and enjoy it

im so proud of myself for guessing who was the killer, even with my terrible memory. the pacing of these early episodes is just fantastic.
