Lupin III: Angel Tactics
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Lupin III does exactly what the world's greatest thief would do — walks straight into Area 51 and steals a mysterious alien artifact called the Original Metal, and it only gets more chaotic from there. Four deadly women known as the Bloody Angels want the same artifact for reasons that are very much not good, which means Lupin suddenly has enemies on multiple fronts — and these aren't your typical henchmen. Inspector Zenigata, the long-suffering detective who has spent his entire career chasing Lupin, teams up with a new partner named Emily O'Brien to tackle both the thief and the terrorists at once. What follows is the classic Lupin formula: slick heists, narrow escapes, and a lot of people outsmarting each other in rotating order. The sci-fi angle with Area 51 gives the usual adventure a slightly different flavor than a standard caper, and the Bloody Angels add a fresh threat that the usual cast actually has to take seriously. Yuji Ohno's jazz soundtrack does exactly what it always does — makes every scene feel cooler than it probably has any right to be. If you've already watched Cowboy Bebop and want something with that same breezy crime-and-chase energy, Lupin III fits naturally into that space. Fans of City Hunter will also recognize the mix of comedy and competent action. It's a single TV special, so the commitment is low — about 90 minutes and you're done.
