📖 SYNOPSIS
Once the most feared hitman alive, Tarou Sakamoto left it all behind when he fell in love, had a kid, gained a bunch of weight, and opened a convenience store. Now he's just a chubby dad in an apron trying to keep the shelves stocked and his family happy. The problem is, the criminal underworld didn't get the memo that he's retired. Former partners, rival assassins, and people with grudges keep showing up at his door, and Sakamoto has to deal with all of them without breaking the one rule his wife set: no killing. What makes Sakamoto Days work so well is the gap between who this guy looks like and what he can actually do. He'll take out a room full of trained killers using store merchandise and whatever's lying around, all while looking like he'd rather be restocking the rice aisle. The animation from TMS Entertainment is genuinely fluid — the fight choreography hits hard and the comedy lands right alongside it, never feeling like one undercuts the other. Shin Asakura, his old partner who can read minds, shows up early and their dynamic carries a lot of the show's heart. If you liked the domestic-life-meets-danger energy of Spy x Family or the retired-killer comedy of The Way of the Househusband but wished it had real action scenes, this is exactly what you're looking for. Eleven episodes from the shounen manga, and the pacing stays tight throughout.
