One-Punch Man: Road to Hero
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Long before he gained the power to end every fight with a single punch, Saitama was just some dude in a tracksuit getting into scraps and barely scraping by. Road to Hero is a single OVA episode from Madhouse that rewinds to those early days, and it's a surprisingly charming little origin story. The setup is simple: Saitama keeps wrecking his clothes in fights, and his local tailor keeps fixing them for free. When a gang starts pressuring the old man to shut down his shop, Saitama gets involved — not because he's some grand hero with a mission statement, but because the guy's been decent to him. That's kind of the whole appeal. It's small-scale and personal in a way the main series doesn't always get to be. You also get to see how Saitama ends up with that iconic yellow suit, which is a nice touch. The action-comedy balance is exactly what you'd expect if you've seen the main show — absurd fights, deadpan humor, Saitama being Saitama. If you're into Mob Psycho 100's mix of genuine heart underneath all the comedy, or you liked the early underdog energy of My Hero Academia before it went full spectacle, this hits a similar note. It's only one episode, so there's zero commitment. Worth your time if you're already a fan, and a fun little appetizer if you're curious about the series.
