SPY x FAMILY
Oshimeter
Synopsis
One of the world's most elite spies needs to get close to a dangerous political figure, and the only way in is through the guy's kid's elite private school. The plan: create a fake family, enroll a child, and schmooze at parent events. Simple enough, except the wife he recruits is secretly one of the most lethal assassins in the country, and the little girl he adopts is a telepath who can read both their minds. Neither parent knows the other's secret, but Anya — the kid — knows everything and is having the time of her life. That's the setup for Spy x Family, a 12-episode TV series from Wit Studio and CloverWorks that nails the balance between Cold War espionage tension and genuinely funny domestic comedy. Loid Forger is competent and calculated, Yor can casually throw a grown man through a wall, and Anya just wants her new parents to stay together so her life keeps being interesting. The family dynamics feel warm even though the whole thing is built on lies, and the show knows exactly how to play that irony for both laughs and heart. If you liked the romantic comedy mind games of Kaguya-sama: Love is War or the action-comedy blend of Fullmetal Panic, this hits a similar sweet spot. It's also got some of that stylish energy The Millionaire Detective had, just with better emotional grounding. The animation is sharp, the soundtrack shifts smoothly between spy thriller and cozy slice-of-life, and Anya alone is worth the watch.
