One Punch Man Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
One punch is all it takes for Saitama to defeat literally anything. That's his whole problem. Season one established the joke — the strongest hero alive is also the most bored and underappreciated guy on the planet. This 12-episode TV series picks up right where that left off, but now there's someone who actually makes things interesting: Garou, a former martial arts prodigy who's declared war on heroes. Not monsters, not villains — heroes. He's hunting them down one by one, and he's genuinely skilled enough to make the Hero Association sweat. Meanwhile, Saitama is still wandering around Z-City, completely oblivious to the chaos escalating around him, mostly concerned with sales at the supermarket. The comedy here works because it never winks at the camera too hard. Saitama isn't in on the joke. He's just a guy who finished the game and doesn't know what to do with himself. If you liked Mob Psycho 100's blend of absurd power with grounded character writing, this hits a similar note — same original creator, after all. And if My Hero Academia scratched your superhero itch but you want something that actively makes fun of the genre instead of celebrating it, this is the version for you. J.C.Staff took over production from Madhouse for this season, and the animation style shifts a bit, worth knowing going in. But Garou's arc alone carries the season. The dude is a genuinely compelling antagonist in a show built around the idea that antagonists don't matter.
