One Punch Man Season 2 Arc Review

One-Punch Man Season 2 had the difficult task of following one of the most visually impressive anime first seasons ever made. While it doesn’t fully reach the same level of animation quality, it still delivers an entertaining continuation with stronger world-building and character focus.

The biggest highlight of this season is Garou. He easily becomes the most interesting part of the story. Unlike a typical villain, Garou is portrayed as someone who hates society’s idea of “heroes” and sympathizes with monsters. His fights, personality, and philosophy give the season much more depth than simply watching Saitama defeat enemies instantly.

Another improvement is the expansion of the hero world. The anime spends more time developing the Hero Association and side characters, making the universe feel larger and more connected than before.

However, the most common criticism is valid: the animation downgrade is noticeable. Compared to Season 1’s legendary fight choreography and fluid motion, Season 2 looks less polished and less impactful during action scenes. Some battles still look good, but the overall presentation lacks the same explosive energy.

Despite that, the humor remains enjoyable. Saitama’s boredom, deadpan reactions, and accidental comedy still work well, especially when contrasted against overly serious characters around him.

The pacing can also feel incomplete because the season mainly builds toward larger future conflicts rather than delivering a fully satisfying climax on its own. It feels more like setup for bigger arcs ahead.
