Case Closed Movie 02: The Fourteenth Target
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A killer is working their way through victims whose names contain numbers — ace, two, three — like a countdown, and every single victim is connected to bumbling private detective Kogorou Mouri. That's the setup for The Fourteenth Target, the second Detective Conan movie from TMS Entertainment, and it's one of the tighter mystery plots the franchise has put together. The playing card motif gives the whole thing a creepy, puzzle-box structure where you're genuinely trying to figure out who gets targeted next before Conan does. And since the victims are people Kogorou actually knows, there's real stakes attached — this isn't just a random crime spree. You also get more of Kogorou's backstory than the TV series usually offers, which makes him feel like an actual character rather than just comic relief. The tone stays true to the series: there's genuine tension alongside moments that are quietly funny without breaking the mood. If you've seen Detective Conan: The Time Bombed Skyscraper and want more of that movie-scale mystery energy, this delivers. If you liked Detective Conan: The Last Wizard of the Century for how it built suspense around a central gimmick, same idea here. It's a single movie, so the commitment is low and the mystery wraps cleanly. Good entry point even if you're not deep into the main series.
