Here's the thing though — the cult is actually real, and everything Cid makes up on the spot turns out to be accurate. He's accidentally dismantling a massive conspiracy while thinking he's just living out his chuunibyou fantasy. The gap between what Cid thinks is happening and what's actually happening is where this 20-episode TV series lives, and it never gets old. The action sequences from Studio Nexus are genuinely impressive — Cid goes absurdly hard in fights he treats like theatrical performances. If you liked the overpowered protagonist energy of Overlord but wished it leaned more into comedy, or if Konosuba's brand of isekai parody clicked with you, this hits a similar nerve. It's a satire of power fantasy anime that also works perfectly as one. The whole thing has this deadpan confidence where Cid delivers the most dramatic lines imaginable while being completely wrong about the situation, and his subordinates just think he's a genius.
