Negima!? Magister Negi Magi
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Fresh out of magic academy at just ten years old, Negi Springfield lands his first real assignment: teaching English to a class of 31 girls at an all-girls school in Japan. He's a child. They're teenagers. He has to keep his magic secret. Nothing about this setup is going to go smoothly, and that's kind of the whole charm of it. The early episodes are mostly Negi stumbling through lessons, trying not to get caught casting spells, and slowly figuring out that his students aren't exactly ordinary either. His relationship with Asuna, one of the louder personalities in class, ends up being the emotional anchor that keeps things grounded when the story starts pushing into stranger territory. Studio Shaft handles the animation, and their visual style gives the whole thing a slightly offbeat, stylized feel that separates it from your average school comedy. If you've seen Rosario + Vampire or Hayate the Combat Butler and liked that mix of supernatural chaos in a school setting, this sits comfortably in that same space. If Love Hina was your introduction to the harem genre and you've been looking for something with a bit more magic woven in, Negima!? is worth your time. It's romantic and comedic without taking itself too seriously, and at 26 episodes it doesn't overstay its welcome.
