Negima!
Oshimeter
Synopsis
What happens when a 10-year-old boy walks into an all-girls boarding school as the new English teacher is the whole premise, and it commits to the absurdity completely. Negi Springfield is a young wizard from Wales who needs to complete one final test to earn his master wizard certification — and somehow that test is teaching a class of 31 teenage girls at Mahora Academy in Japan. He immediately makes an enemy of Asuna Kagurazaka by replacing the teacher she had feelings for, and things spiral from there when she discovers he's actually a wizard and uses it as leverage against him. The first couple episodes set up this weird balancing act where Negi is genuinely trying to be a good teacher while also hiding an entire magical life from his students. The cast is massive — 31 students, each with distinct personalities — and the show gradually rolls out a Pactio system where Negi can form magical contracts with students that unlock special abilities, which adds a fun layer to the fantasy side of things. The tone is light and comedic for the most part, with action woven in as the magical elements pick up. If you enjoyed Trinity Seven or Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor, the teacher-in-a-magic-school setup will feel familiar. Fans of Fairy Tail who want something with a larger ensemble and a school setting will also find a lot to like here. It leans into its harem and ecchi elements, so go in knowing what it is.
