Synopsis

In the crossfire of a war that had nothing to do with them, Shinn Asuka's whole family died right in front of him. Now he's angry, enlisted in ZAFT's military, and piloting one of the most advanced mobile suits ever built — and that's just the first couple of episodes. Gundam SEED Destiny is a 50-episode mecha series set two years after the original Gundam SEED conflict, dropping you back into a world where the peace everyone fought for is already crumbling. Genetically enhanced Coordinators and unmodified Naturals are at each other's throats again, a diplomatic mission goes sideways fast, and prototype mobile suits get stolen by unknown forces. The whole thing spirals from there. What makes it worth sitting through is how genuinely messy the emotions are — Shinn's grief feels real, not just backstory fuel, and the relationships between characters carry actual weight. Athrun Zala returns from the previous series navigating impossible loyalties, which adds a grounded perspective alongside Shinn's raw, unprocessed rage. The mecha battles are fluid and visceral, the soundtrack hits harder than it has any right to, and the political tension keeps things from ever feeling like pure action spectacle. If you watched Gundam SEED and wanted more, this is the direct continuation. If you liked the moral complexity in Code Geass or Gundam 00, the same DNA runs through this. It's romantic and brutal in equal measure.

Damn you, Durandal! Because of you, Athrun has doubts about his position. Cagalli seems like she won't be able to do anything if Athrun returns to the battlefield. The storytelling in this episode is very good, I was really hypnotized while watching it. The soundtrack is no doubt, but for the animation quality I prefer the previous series, Seed. Overall, this episode is a must watch.

In this episode, Cagalli and Athrun are trapped inside the Minerva and are forced to follow ZAFT to watch the battle against the Earth Alliance's Bogey One. What will happen to Cagalli and Athrun next? Meanwhile, what I like about this anime is its fast pace even outside of battle, so when watching it you won't feel bored. It's just that I have to focus to be able to understand the plot of this anime.

This time the pace felt just right for me, even though it was quite fast because from the beginning to the end of the episode was dominated by battles between mobile suits. But because the pace was fast, it took me some time to understand the story and the new characters, especially the political plot. One thing is for sure, the storytelling style will be familiar to those who watched Seed, the previous series.
