Lupin III: Farewell to Nostradamus
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A stolen diamond smuggled inside a doll and a flight out of Brazil — that is how Lupin III's latest getaway begins. Simple enough — until a little girl named Julia swipes the doll, the plane gets hijacked, and the kid gets kidnapped by a doomsday cult chasing a book of Nostradamus prophecies locked inside her father's skyscraper. What started as a standard getaway turns into something much messier, much faster. Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, and the ever-unreliable Fujiko end up tangled in a rescue mission they definitely did not plan for. The Nostradamus angle gives the whole thing a mysterious, slightly eerie backdrop without the film ever taking itself too seriously — it stays loose and fun even when the stakes climb. The action sequences move well, Yuji Ohno's soundtrack keeps the atmosphere grounded in that classic Lupin feel, and the chemistry between the crew is the same reason people keep coming back to this franchise. If you enjoyed Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro or something like City Hunter: The Secret Service, this sits comfortably in that same space — heist-adjacent adventure with comedic timing and enough plot to keep you engaged. It is a standalone movie, so there is no prior Lupin knowledge required. About 100 minutes, and it moves at a solid pace the whole way through.
