Hunter x Hunter: Greed Island Final
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Trapped isn't quite right — Gon and Killua chose to be there — but the world they find themselves in is unlike any other. Greed Island is a game that physically pulls players into its world, and finishing it means collecting 100 specific cards scattered across a dangerous, sprawling landscape full of people who would rather kill you than compete fairly. This OVA picks up mid-arc, so you'll want to have seen the original Greed Island OVA first, but if you're already following Hunter x Hunter, this is where things really start clicking. The two of them are training under Biscuit, a veteran Nen user who looks harmless and absolutely is not, and watching them develop their abilities feels genuinely earned rather than handed to them. The Nen system — Hunter x Hunter's version of power mechanics — rewards attention. It has rules, costs, and strategy behind it, which makes fights feel more like chess matches than shouting contests. If you grew up with Naruto or One Piece and want something that takes its power system seriously without drowning in filler, this scratches that itch. The tone stays grounded even when the stakes escalate, and the camaraderie between Gon and Killua carries real weight throughout the 14 episodes. It's not trying to impress you with scale. It just keeps building, quietly and steadily, until you realize you've watched four episodes without noticing.
