EPISODE CONTEXT
Sitting just past the midpoint at episode 10 of 23, this marks a meaningful shift from the predominantly episodic comedy of the first nine episodes toward exploring what actually lies beneath Ataru and Lum's dynamic. The earlier episodes established the comedic rules and expanded the cast; this one starts asking whether Ataru's feelings run deeper than his antics suggest, laying groundwork for the more emotionally complex storytelling the back half of the season builds toward.
