Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto
Oshimeter
Synopsis
With the palate of a food critic and the moral compass of a serial killer, Shuu Tsukiyama is a ghoul who takes eating very personally. During one of his meticulously planned meals — a human one, naturally — some random high school girl snaps a photo of him mid-feast. Instead of panicking, she just... shows him the picture. Like she's proud of the composition. And honestly, it's a pretty good shot. That's the setup for this single-episode OVA that digs into how Tsukiyama, one of Tokyo Ghoul's most theatrical characters, first met Chie Hori, the fearless photographer who becomes his unlikely human companion. What makes it work is the tension between what Tsukiyama is — a predator who treats killing like fine dining — and the fact that this girl genuinely does not care. She's not brave in a shonen way. She's just wired differently. The whole thing becomes this weird dance where a monster keeps trying to be scary and a human keeps refusing to be scared. The tone is dark and moody, very much in line with the main series but more intimate. Studio Pierrot keeps the visual atmosphere tight for a single episode. If you liked the predator-prey dynamics in Parasyte: The Maxim or the uncomfortable human-monster coexistence in Ajin: Demi-Human, this hits a similar nerve. It's also a solid entry point if you want a taste of Tokyo Ghoul's world without committing to the full series — though fair warning, the gore earns that seinen tag.
