Steel Angel Kurumi 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A shy, clumsy ninth-grader named Nako Kagura just wants to practice her cello in peace. Instead, she accidentally kisses a dormant android in her family's old shrine basement and now has a hyper-affectionate Steel Angel named Kurumi glued to her side. That alone would be enough to deal with, but Nako's best friend Uruka has been harboring feelings for her, and watching Kurumi monopolize Nako's attention pushes Uruka over the edge — to the point where she starts deploying her family's private army of mecha to settle a love triangle. This is a 12-episode TV series from OLM set 75 years after the original Steel Angel Kurumi, though you don't really need the first series to follow along. The whole thing leans hard into comedy, with the sci-fi and mecha elements mostly serving as escalation tools for what is fundamentally a story about jealousy, affection, and girls who have zero chill about their feelings. The yuri dynamics are front and center rather than just hinted at, which gives it a different energy than a lot of early 2000s anime that danced around same-gender romance. If you enjoyed the domestic comedy side of Mahoromatic or the angel-themed chaos of Kaitō Tenshi Twin Angel, this hits a similar frequency but with more openly romantic stakes. It's light, it's silly, and at 12 episodes it doesn't overstay its welcome. Good for a weekend afternoon when you want something breezy with a little heart underneath the absurdity.
