Overlord III
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture a bathrobe-wearing undead sorcerer who runs the most terrifyingly overpowered dungeon in existence, and by season three, he's done playing nice. Overlord III picks up with Nazarick's forces finally moving from scheming in the shadows to actively reshaping the political map. The first few episodes split between Ainz's cold, calculated power plays and Carne Village — this little settlement he saved back in season one that's now trying to survive in a world where every faction is jockeying for control. What makes this season hit different is the scale. You're watching kingdoms maneuver, armies mobilize, and Ainz treat geopolitics like a chess game where he's the only one who knows all the pieces. The 13-episode run from Madhouse leans hard into military strategy and world-building, which means less dungeon crawling and more watching an undead overlord run a foreign policy operation. The dark fantasy tone stays consistent — Ainz isn't a hero, and the show never pretends he is. There's something genuinely unsettling about rooting for a guy whose subordinates casually discuss genocide over dinner. If you liked the strategic depth of Log Horizon or the isekai power fantasy of Sword Art Online but wanted something where the protagonist sits firmly on the morally gray side, this is your lane. Fair warning though: you really need to watch the first two seasons or you'll be completely lost.
