Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Sticking Naruto with babysitting duty for a rich prince and his bratty kid is already a recipe for comedic disaster before the prince decides to buy an entire circus on the road. That's the energy of this movie. Team Kakashi — with Rock Lee filling in for Sasuke, which honestly gives it a different and fun dynamic — has to escort Prince Michiru and his son Hikaru back to the Land of the Moon. Michiru throws money at everything, Hikaru wants a saber-toothed tiger as a pet, and Naruto has to somehow keep these two alive while not losing his mind. The early stretch is mostly Naruto clashing with Hikaru's entitled attitude, which mirrors his own stubbornness in a way that actually lands. But the mission takes a sharp turn when they arrive home and find the kingdom has been seized by a power-hungry minister backed by some seriously dangerous ninja. From there it shifts into full combat mode with some solid fight choreography, especially from Rock Lee and Naruto. The theme of money not buying what actually matters is a bit on the nose, but the character moments between Naruto and Hikaru give it enough heart to work. If you enjoyed the vibe of Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow or Legend of the Stone of Gelel, this fits right alongside them — same standalone adventure feel with a new setting and fresh faces. Fans of Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion will recognize the formula of a self-contained movie that gives side characters room to breathe.
