Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At just 13 years old, Üso Ewin lives in a quiet European village, completely unprepared for what's about to happen to him. The Zanscare Empire has taken over space colonies and started rolling out guillotines for public executions — yes, guillotines, in the future — and the resistance fighters hiding near his town are running out of options. When the fighting reaches his doorstep, Üso ends up behind the controls of the Victory Gundam, and suddenly a kid who should be worrying about school is in the middle of a full-scale war. This is one of the darker entries in the Universal Century timeline. Where other Gundam series let you ease into the horror of war through older protagonists, Victory puts a child at the center and doesn't look away from what that actually means psychologically. Akira Senju's score does a lot of heavy lifting here — it gives the quieter moments real weight. If you worked through Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and wanted something that pushes the emotional toll even further, this scratches that itch. Fans of Mobile Suit Gundam F91 will recognize the same late-UC political decay, but stretched across 51 episodes with more room to breathe. The Victory Gundam itself has a modular design that makes the mech combat genuinely interesting to watch unfold. Just go in knowing this one doesn't soften the edges.
