Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E.73: Stargazer
Oshimeter
Synopsis
On opposite sides of a war neither of them asked for, two people are about to have their lives collide. Sven is a 19-year-old Natural pilot running black ops missions for the Phantom Pain, the Earth Alliance's elite anti-Coordinator squad. He's efficient, cold, and good at what he does. Selene is a 28-year-old Coordinator researcher at a neutral space agency, quietly developing the Stargazer — a mobile suit built not for war, but for exploring deep space. Then the war decides it doesn't care about anyone's neutrality. At just 3 episodes, Stargazer is essentially a self-contained side story set during the Gundam SEED timeline, so you don't need to be deep into the franchise to follow it. What makes it worth your time is the contrast it draws — a soldier shaped by conflict versus a scientist trying to exist outside of it — and how the animation holds up really well for a 2006 web release. If you liked the grounded, personal storytelling in Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket or the civilian-caught-in-the-crossfire feel of The 08th MS Team, this hits a similar note. It's quieter and more contemplative than the main SEED series, closer in spirit to Gundam Thunderbolt in how it frames the human cost on both sides. Short, focused, and worth an afternoon.
