Meitantei Conan Movie 29: Highway no Datenshi
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Conan Edogawa and the usual crew head to Yokohama for a motorcycle festival, which sounds pretty chill until a pitch-black motorcycle blows past them on the highway at insane speed, outrunning a Kanagawa police officer named Chihaya Hagiwara. That name might ring a bell — she's connected to Kenji Hagiwara and Jinpei Matsuda, two characters whose stories hit hard in earlier Conan lore. This movie pulls on those threads, and Chihaya's backstory carries real emotional weight underneath all the tire-screeching action. At the festival, there's a new high-tech police bike called 'Angel,' and meanwhile a rogue rider on an identical-looking machine dubbed 'Lucifer' starts tearing through Tokyo, dodging every pursuit the cops throw at it. The mystery around who's riding Lucifer and why they're doing it is the core engine here, but the movie earns its keep with genuinely intense chase sequences through Yokohama's streets. If you liked the tense cat-and-mouse energy of Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser or the emotional stakes in Zero the Enforcer, this one's pulling from that same playbook — personal connections tangled up in a larger case. It's also got some of the vehicle-focused spectacle that made The Darkest Nightmare memorable, just swapping helicopters for motorcycles. TMS Entertainment handles the 2026 movie, and for a single-film mystery with action that actually matters to the characters involved, it's a solid pick.
