Legend of Xianwu 2nd Season
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Stripped of his sect, his home, and any semblance of a future, Ye Chen is the pretty standard "fallen cultivator" setup, right? But then he stumbles into acquiring the True Flame, and suddenly he's back on the cultivation grind in a world where demons and deities are both very real and very hostile. This ONA picks up his story as he claws his way back from rock bottom, navigating a chaotic realm where every power structure is unstable and everyone has their own agenda. What keeps this one going across its 147 episodes is the pacing. Ye Chen's rise isn't instant — he earns his power-ups through genuinely rough trials, and the martial arts sequences are animated with a fluidity that Xiaoming Taiji clearly put real effort into. The cultivation power system has layers to it, and the show takes time to build out the world rather than just rushing from fight to fight. The soundtrack also does a lot of heavy lifting, giving the historical fantasy setting real weight. If you liked Mo Dao Zu Shi for its blend of martial arts and spiritual cultivation, or enjoyed the underdog-to-powerhouse arc in A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Congqian Youzuo Lingjianshan's mix of humor and sect politics will find familiar ground here too, though Xianwu Zhuan plays things more straight and dramatic. It's a solid long-form cultivation story that rewards patience.
