In the dungeon-filled city of Orario, aspiring adventurer Bell Cranel seeks fame, fortune, and perhaps a romantic encounter, but finds himself constantly rescued by a skilled swordswoman.

📖 SYNOPSIS

At only 14 years old, Bell Cranel is basically the weakest adventurer in Orario, a city built on top of a massive monster-infested labyrinth called the Dungeon. His entire Familia consists of him and Hestia, a broke goddess with zero followers and zero clout. Not exactly a power duo. But here's where it gets interesting — in this world, gods literally live among humans and grant them stat-based abilities like an RPG, updating their skills by reading their backs like a character sheet. Bell gets saved from a minotaur by Ais Wallenstein, basically the strongest swordswoman around, and his embarrassment from that rescue becomes the catalyst for a unique skill that lets him level up absurdly fast. The catch is that the faster he grows, the more attention he draws from people who'd rather keep him down. J.C.Staff handles the animation for this 13-episode TV series, and the Dungeon crawling scenes have real weight to them — tight corridors, escalating threats, and fights where Bell genuinely looks outmatched. The dynamic between Bell and Hestia grounds the whole thing with some warmth between the action beats. If you liked Sword Art Online's RPG-flavored world but wanted something with a more classic fantasy feel, or if Log Horizon's guild politics appealed to you but you're in the mood for something faster-paced and more combat-focused, this hits a nice middle ground. It knows exactly what it is and delivers on it.

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You love RPG-style fantasy worlds — gods, familias, and dungeon floor progression drive this setting
An underdog protagonist leveling up fast through sheer willpower is exactly your thing
J.C.Staff's fluid action scenes — especially the Minotaur fight — scratch that sakuga itch
You're into found-family dynamics between Bell and Hestia's growing familia across 13 episodes

❌ SKIP IF...

Hestia's design and frequent fanservice moments are gonna pull you out of the story
You want deep side-character backstories — most of the cast stays surface-level this season
You're tired of generic fantasy tropes — DanMachi remixes them but doesn't reinvent the wheel
