Synopsis

Not a single god in heaven wants anything to do with Xie Lian. He was once the beloved Crown Prince of Xianle, but after ascending to heaven and getting kicked back down — twice — he's basically the celestial equivalent of that coworker everyone avoids in the break room. Now he's back for a third time with zero followers, zero respect, and the worst luck you can imagine. His one bright spot is Hua Cheng, a Ghost King so powerful that even the gods are terrified of him, who for some reason has decided Xie Lian is the most interesting person in existence. Season 2 of this 12-episode ONA from Red Dog Culture House picks up with the heavenly court side-eyeing Xie Lian's connection to Hua Cheng while a new threat emerges that pulls them deeper into each other's orbits. The dynamic between these two carries the whole thing — there's genuine warmth underneath all the mythology and ghost-fighting, and the show earns its emotional beats instead of forcing them. The animation leans into traditional Chinese aesthetics in a way that feels lived-in rather than decorative, and the action sequences have real weight to them. If you liked Mo Dao Zu Shi or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, this is from the same author and hits similar notes of fantasy, layered history, and complicated relationships. Fans of The King's Avatar will appreciate the production quality. Just know going in that the slow burn is very much the point.

This is good to wrap up the finale season. The overall animation is great, the lore was kind of heavy and emotional. I think the storytelling and the connections of each lore needs recognition because it was PEAK.
I’m loving the effects! The animation never fails to amaze me, I love the old Chinese vibe. This is more into dialogues and word play. Nan Feng and San Lang were like cats and dogs and it was so funny to watch.
That lower angle was so weird. But the rest of the animation was amazing. The lore adds more depth to the story. I was so shocked and not going to lie it was a jaw dropping episode.
