Burn-Up Scramble
Oshimeter
Synopsis
By 2023, crime in Tokyo has gotten complicated — organized, high-tech, and way above what regular cops can handle. The government's answer is the Warriors, an extralegal special unit that operates outside normal jurisdiction and isn't exactly worried about paperwork. Leading the charge is Rio Kinezono, a martial arts specialist who's equally driven by justice and her ongoing search for a decent boyfriend. Alongside her is Maya, a soft-spoken markswoman who's quietly terrifying with a gun, and Lilica, a shy telepath whose psychic abilities make her genuinely useful when the team needs intel that bullets can't provide. The first couple episodes throw them against a violent motorcycle gang and a string of ATM heists — nothing world-ending, but enough to establish what kind of show this is: chaotic, funny, and occasionally earnest about its characters. It leans into ecchi territory, so that's worth knowing upfront. The action is punchy and the comedy lands more often than not. If you've watched Burn-Up W or Burn-Up Excess, this is a full reboot with redesigned characters and a fresh start — no prior knowledge needed. Fans of Bubblegum Crisis who want something lighter in tone will probably find it comfortable. It's a 12-episode TV series from 2004, so the commitment is low and it moves fast. Worth a look if you want a sci-fi detective action-comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously.
