Synopsis
Within minutes of arriving at Hakuryo High, transfer student Jouji Gouda meets his new class representative Akane Suzumiya, drops to one knee, and proposes marriage. She's not flattered. He does not take the hint. That's basically the whole setup, and the show leans into it hard across three OVA episodes. Jouji is the kind of guy who treats romance like a mecha pilot treats a battlefield — full commitment, zero tactical awareness, maximum embarrassment for everyone involved. Akane is perpetually annoyed, the surrounding cast is perpetually baffled, and the comedy comes from watching this absolute bulldozer of a person refuse to recalibrate at any point. The mecha references aren't just flavor either; the show actively parodies that hot-blooded hero archetype by dropping it into a completely ordinary high school romance, which gives the humor a specific texture that's hard to describe but easy to enjoy once you're watching it. If you liked the chaotic romantic misfire energy of Ranma 1/2, or the relentless one-sided pursuit comedy in Love Tyrant, this sits comfortably in that neighborhood. It's also loosely connected to the Muv-Luv visual novel universe, so if you've played that or plan to, there's some extra context floating around here. At three episodes it doesn't overstay its welcome. It's a short, goofy watch with a very specific comedic rhythm that either clicks for you or doesn't.
