Unnamed Memory
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A curse prevents any woman from bearing Oscar's child—a dealbreaker of a problem when you're the heir to a kingdom. After fifteen years of searching for a fix, he decides to climb the Azure Tower, a death-trap gauntlet that nobody has survived in decades, to ask the legendary Witch of the Azure Moon for help. When he actually makes it to the top and meets Tinasha, one of the most powerful witches alive, his first move is to propose marriage. She turns him down flat but agrees to spend a year at his side investigating the curse. From there, Unnamed Memory settles into this really pleasant rhythm of political intrigue, magical threats, and two people with sharp personalities slowly figuring each other out. The dynamic between Oscar, who's absurdly strong and unfazed by basically everything, and Tinasha, who's lived for centuries and keeps everyone at arm's length, carries the whole show. It's a 12-episode TV series from 2024 by Studio ENGI, adapted from a light novel, and the world-building has that layered quality where kingdoms, ancient magic, and old grudges all weave together. If you liked the slow-burn relationship in Spice and Wolf or the magical atmosphere of The Ancient Magus' Bride, this hits a similar sweet spot. It's more romance-forward than action-heavy, so come for the curse mystery and stay for two people who are clearly perfect for each other refusing to admit it.
