📖 SYNOPSIS
"Tsushima Maru: Sayounara Okinawa" is a documentary anime adaptation of Ooshiro Tatsuhiro's book, focusing on the sinking of the Tsushima Maru. The freight boat was carrying a class of schoolchildren when it was attacked and sunk by an American submarine in July 1944. The film was produced by the surviving family members of those aboard the Tsushima Maru. The anime aims for realism in its storytelling, offering a carefully crafted depiction of the events. This realism is juxtaposed with the distinctive, deformed character designs created by Kiyomizu Kazutoshi, creating a unique visual experience. The anime explores themes of loss, war, and the human cost of conflict.
