Synopsis

Whenever rain falls on Tokyo, a 15-year-old kid skips school to sit in a garden and sketch shoe designs — because yeah, he wants to be a shoemaker. One of those rainy mornings, he meets a older woman drinking beer alone on a bench, and they just... start talking. No big dramatic setup, no fantasy twist. Just two people who are both a little lost, finding comfort in each other's company whenever it rains. That's the whole movie, and it's only 46 minutes long, and it will absolutely wreck you. This is Makoto Shinkai before Your Name blew up worldwide, and honestly the animation here might be even more impressive in some ways. The rain in this film is unreal — every droplet on every leaf looks like it was painted by hand with obsessive care. CoMix Wave Films made Tokyo's Shinjuku Gyoen look like something out of a dream. The soundtrack by Kashiwa Daisuke is quiet and haunting, the kind that stays in your head for days. The story is really about loneliness, growing up, and how sometimes the people who help us most are the ones we barely know. It's melancholic but never depressing — more like that bittersweet feeling after a good cry. If you liked 5 Centimeters per Second or the quieter emotional moments in Weathering with You, this is right in that lane. Short enough to watch on a lunch break, heavy enough to think about for weeks.

The animation is breathtaking; every raindrop and leaf feels alive. The story of two lonely souls finding solace in a rainy garden is deeply moving. Its "wholesome yet bittersweet" vibe and the beautiful "Rain" ending theme make it a visual and emotional masterpiece.
It is a sensory experience. It’s a movie for people who appreciate art, poetry, and the small details of life. It explores the idea of longing and how two strangers can help each other learn how to walk again without even knowing each other's names
this film is minutes of pure visual poetry. the rain scenes are stunning, the quiet moments hit hard, and the emotional release at the end is raw. not your typical romance, it's about two lonely people finding each other at the right time. short, sweet, and leaves you thinking.
