Soul Land 2: The Peerless Tang Clan
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Set a full ten millennia after the events of the original Soul Land, the once-legendary Tang Sect has crumbled into near extinction. Huo Yuhao is a kid with a martial spirit nobody thinks much of, enrolling at Shrek Academy — the same school that produced legends in the previous era. The catch with this world is there's no magic or battle qi, just martial spirits, and the system around them is genuinely intricate. Think soul rings, spirit bones, and a whole progression framework that keeps the power scaling interesting instead of just "guy punches harder now." Huo Yuhao meets Tang Wutong early on, and the two of them end up forming the core of a new generation of Shrek's Seven Monsters, with the goal of rebuilding the Tang Sect from nothing. The 3D animation from Sparkly Key is legitimately solid for donghua — the combat choreography has weight to it, and the world design blends fantasy aesthetics with technological elements in a way that feels fresh. At 156 episodes, this ONA has room to breathe through its arcs without rushing. If you liked Tales of Demons and Gods or Shen Yin Wang Zuo for the cultivation and academy vibes, this scratches that same itch but with better production values. Fans of Xue Ying Ling Zhu's world-building will find a lot to dig into here too. It's a slow build early on, but the payoff in character dynamics and escalating stakes is worth the patience.
