Sailor Moon SuperS Specials
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The Outer Senshi just vanish during the entire SuperS season, and you've probably wondered why. This three-episode special actually answers that, which is kind of wild for a franchise that usually hand-waves continuity. The setup: Haruka and Michiru are on a cruise ship, trying to have a quiet romantic getaway, when a SuperS villain shows up and ruins the mood. After dealing with the threat, they essentially decide the Inner Senshi can handle things this time around — and that's your canonical explanation for their absence. It's a small but satisfying piece of lore that fills a gap fans have questioned for years. The first episode is a recap of the previous three seasons, so if you're catching up or need a refresher, it's a clean entry point. The third episode gives Chibiusa her own little horror-flavored adventure involving a classmate who turns out to be a monster hiding in a vampire castle, which is a fun tonal shift from the usual fare. The real draw here is dedicated Haruka and Michiru screen time. Their dynamic — equal parts elegance, combat partnership, and genuine romantic chemistry — gets room to breathe outside the full ensemble chaos. If you liked the relationship depth in Revolutionary Girl Utena or the magical girl warmth of Cardcaptor Sakura, this hits a similar sweet spot. It's only three episodes, carries that gorgeous 90s Toei aesthetic, and honestly just feels like a cozy side story for longtime fans.
