Rozen Maiden: Träumend
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Gorgeous, fragile dolls wage war against one another to become the perfect creation of their maker, and it goes about as well as you'd expect. Rozen Maiden: Träumend picks up where the first season left off — Jun Sakurada, a shut-in kid who's slowly getting his life back together, is still partnered with Shinku, an elegant and sharp-tongued doll who treats his house like her personal estate. The other Rozen Maiden dolls are hanging around too, each with their own quirks and loyalties, and for a while things feel almost peaceful. Then Barasuishou shows up — a mysterious seventh doll — and suddenly the Alice Game, this brutal competition where dolls steal each other's life force to become complete, kicks into high gear. The stakes from season one? They get real here. Don't let the gothic lolita aesthetic fool you — this 12-episode TV series gets genuinely emotional. The doll designs are gorgeous, the soundtrack is haunting in the best way, and the power system around the Rosa Mystica gives every fight real consequences. Characters you've grown attached to are not safe. If you liked the darker undercurrents of Puella Magi Madoka Magica or the surreal feminine energy of Revolutionary Girl Utena, this hits a similar nerve. It's a seinen series from 2005 by Studio Nomad, adapted from the manga, and it balances its quieter character moments with action that actually means something. Watch the first season before this one, though — you'll want that foundation.
