Record of Ragnarok III
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When the divine council votes to annihilate humanity, the only thing standing between extinction and survival is a tournament — thirteen one-on-one fights, gods versus history's greatest humans. By the time this third season picks up, the score is tied, and the gods are not happy about it. Zeus, thoroughly pissed off, throws his brother Hades into the ring. Brunhilde, the Valkyrie organizing humanity's roster, responds by pulling out her trump card: Qin Shi Huang, China's first emperor and arguably one of the most ambitious rulers who ever lived. The matchup alone sets the tone for everything this season delivers. What makes Record of Ragnarok work is its power system — each human fighter bonds with a Valkyrie who transforms into a divine weapon, which means every battle has emotional weight baked into the combat itself. The fights are dramatic, bloody, and surprisingly personal. This isn't just punching harder; it's mythology clashing with history while the soundtrack goes full orchestral. If you're into the tournament format of Kengan Ashura or Baki but want gods and emperors instead of underground fighters, this scratches that itch. And if you liked how Fate/Stay Night reimagines historical figures as warriors, the approach here is similar but more straightforward — less lore-heavy, more arena brawling. It's a seinen ONA, 15 episodes, dark and emotional when it wants to be, and it doesn't pull punches on the gore.
