Synopsis
In a quiet village, Luda lives a peaceful life with his sister, until soldiers show up looking for people who can control the wind. His father has this power. Turns out, Luda does too — marked by a red eye he's only just beginning to understand. When the attack leaves his village in ruins and his sister's fate unknown, he's suddenly thrown into a much larger conflict between ancient elemental abilities and an army with serious military hardware. The mix of fantasy and sci-fi here is legitimately interesting — this isn't a standard medieval setting. There's a clash between old-world powers and cold, technological force that gives it a distinct feel, closer to Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind than your typical sword-and-sorcery setup. If you've seen Now and Then, Here and There and liked the idea of a young kid dropped into a brutal war with no preparation, the premise here hits similar notes, though with a more fantastical bent. Worth knowing: the character designs come from Masamune Shirow, the Ghost in the Shell creator, so there's a specific visual identity here that stands out. At only two episodes, it's a short watch — more of a mood piece and world introduction than a fully resolved story. Go in knowing it's a snapshot, not a complete arc, and it's worth an afternoon.
