EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off Episode 6's exploration of Akane's emotional landscape, this episode pivots to expand the rival roster by introducing Ryoga Hibiki, a character who will become a permanent fixture in the series' sprawling cast. His arrival plants the seeds for an immediate escalation in Episode 8, 'School is a Battlefield! Ranma vs. Ryoga,' where the grudge match gets its full spotlight. At episode 7 of 161, this is still foundational world-building, locking in one of the show's most important character dynamics early.
