Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf: Martial World Rescue
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After an incredible thirty seasons, Pleasant Goat has been outsmarting wolves, and somehow the formula still works. In this latest installment, Martial World Rescue, the goats of Green Green Pastures find their peaceful life disrupted when a new threat rolls in, forcing Pleasant Goat (Xi Yangyang), the ever-hungry Fatty Goat (Fei Yangyang), and even their longtime rival Grey Wolf (Hui Tailang) into a martial arts-flavored adventure to restore order. The twist this time around is the wuxia angle — think kung fu showdowns mixed with the kind of slapstick where a wolf gets launched into the sky for the thousandth time and you still laugh. The dynamic between the goats and Grey Wolf is what keeps this franchise alive. Grey Wolf is one of those villains who's technically threatening but practically a punching bag, and the show leans into that contrast hard. The 60-episode run gives it room to breathe between action sequences and goofy comedy beats, and the animation blends traditional Chinese visual touches with more modern techniques in a way that actually looks pretty clean. If you grew up with Doraemon or Crayon Shin-chan, this hits a similar sweet spot — episodic fun with recurring characters you genuinely get attached to over time. It's aimed at kids, like Chibi Maruko-chan, but there's enough charm in the writing and character interactions that older viewers can sit through it without checking their phones. A solid comfort watch with some surprisingly fun action choreography woven in.
