Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Sitting right behind two of the most popular gals in school, Takuya Seo is the kind of guy who keeps his head down in class and his magical girl anime obsession to himself — Kei Amane, who's cool and hard to read, and Kotoko Ijichi, who's loud and impossible to ignore. These are people from completely different social planets, and Takuya knows better than to try crossing that line. Then he borrows an eraser, accidentally starts talking about his favorite show 'Kiramon,' and Amane casually corrects him on a detail she definitely shouldn't know if she's never seen it. She denies being a fan. The evidence says otherwise. What follows is a low-stakes, genuinely funny comedy about two people who share a nerdy interest but occupy totally different spots on the high school food chain. The humor comes from how hard Amane tries to maintain her cool-girl image while clearly geeking out, and how Takuya has no idea what to do with a gal who might actually get him. TMS Entertainment is handling the animation, with character designs by Rion Matsuda that nail the contrast between Amane's polished gal aesthetic and Takuya's rumpled otaku energy. If you liked the teasing dynamic in Please Tell Me! Galko-chan or the slow-burn awkwardness of Tonari no Kashiwagi-san, this hits a similar sweet spot. It's a seinen romance that doesn't rush anything, content to let the comedy and the connection build naturally.
