Synopsis
After moving from Chiba to Gunma prefecture, Nori Kamitsuki is ready to reunite with his childhood friend Otoya Todoroki, only to get a cryptic text from Todoroki warning him to turn back because "once you enter Gunma, you never return." That's a pretty ominous thing to hear about a real Japanese prefecture, and that tension between genuine rural charm and ridiculous local mythology is basically the whole joke. This is a TV comedy about a kid navigating school life in a place that the rest of Japan apparently treats like some kind of cursed land. His new classmates are fiercely proud of Gunma and determined to debunk every weird stereotype about it, which naturally just makes the whole thing funnier. The humor is very regional, very specific, and lands in that sweet spot where you're learning real trivia about a prefecture while also laughing at how absurd the exaggeration gets. If you enjoyed the hyper-local comedy of Dagashi Kashi or the "let me aggressively sell you on my hometown" energy of Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki, this hits a similar vibe. It's based on a web manga that already has a loyal following, and this Reiwa-era update from Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio is bringing the premise back for 2026. The tone is light, comedic, and youthful — the kind of thing you throw on when you want something short and easy that doesn't ask much from you but consistently delivers laughs about a place you've probably never thought twice about.
