My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Shipped off to a quiet island for a hero internship program, Deku, Bakugo, and the rest of their classmates find themselves mostly helping old ladies carry groceries and rescuing cats from trees. Sounds low-stakes, right? Then a villain named Nine shows up — and this guy is legitimately terrifying. He's hunting for a specific Quirk on the island, and he's brought a crew strong enough to make the kids fight like their lives depend on it, because they genuinely do. No pro heroes around, no All Might to save the day. Just a bunch of students who have to figure out how to protect an entire island on their own. What makes this movie hit harder than most shonen films is that it actually matters emotionally. The Deku and Bakugo dynamic gets pushed to a place the main series hadn't gone yet at the time, and the final fight is animated with the kind of intensity Bones is known for — fluid, kinetic, genuinely jaw-dropping choreography. The soundtrack elevates everything too, landing emotional beats right where they need to. If you enjoyed movies like Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods or One Piece Film: Z where the main cast faces a threat that feels genuinely overwhelming, this is in that same lane but with tighter character work. You don't need to be caught up on every season to enjoy it, but knowing the characters makes the stakes land way harder. It's the rare anime movie that feels like it earns its climax.
