Moldiver
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When teenage inventor Hiroshi Ozora completes a device that turns its wearer into an invincible superhero for exactly 666 seconds, he is ready. He's got the costume, the name, the whole plan. Then his sister Mirai accidentally reprograms the suit, the transformation sequence goes full fashion-magazine, and suddenly she's the one saving Tokyo whether she wants to or not. Hiroshi is furious. Mirai is mostly confused. The city has no idea what's going on. That's the setup for Moldiver, a 6-episode OVA from 1993 set in a futuristic Tokyo where the biggest threat is a villain named Dr. Machinegal and his army of stylish female androids. The sibling dynamic is where the show lives — Hiroshi being quietly mortified that his superhero legacy got hijacked, Mirai stumbling into heroism while genuinely not having asked for any of this. The ticking-clock power limit adds a nice edge to the action, since every fight has a hard deadline. It's a light, affectionate parody of the magical girl and superhero genres before that was really a common thing. If you enjoyed Hyper Doll or Iczer Reborn and want something with similar early-90s energy but a more comedic angle, this fits. If Granbelm made you curious about girls reluctantly piloting things they didn't design, there's a thread of that here too. It's breezy, a little romantic in the background, and short enough to finish in an afternoon.
