EPISODE CONTEXT
As Episode 1 of 49, this is pure foundation — nothing precedes it, and everything flows from it. It establishes the core conflict between the Earth Sphere Alliance and the space colonies, introduces the Gundam pilots' clandestine mission, and plants the seeds of the Heero-Relena dynamic that will thread through the entire series. What follows in the coming episodes is the gradual convergence of the five Gundam pilots and the escalating political and military fallout from their arrival on Earth.
