Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When the last shots are fired and silence finally settles, the Gundam pilots — Heero, Duo, Trowa, and Quatre — have decided to do something surprisingly human: let go. They're sending their mobile suits straight into the sun, because what else do you do with weapons of mass destruction when the fighting stops? Then a young girl named Mariemaia shows up, claims she's the daughter of the war's most notorious villain, and starts a rebellion. The peace everyone fought so hard for is suddenly on the table again. Endless Waltz is a three-episode OVA that works as a proper epilogue to Gundam Wing, so you'll want to have seen the TV series first. It asks a question the main show didn't fully have time for: what do soldiers do with themselves once there's nothing left to fight? The Gundams themselves got completely redesigned here by Hajime Katoki, and they look incredible — sleeker and more detailed than the TV versions. The soundtrack leans into the emotion too, with Two-Mix tracks that actually stick with you. If you liked the political drama and moral weight of Code Geass or Gundam 00, this hits similar notes but in a much tighter package. It's not action-heavy — it's more of a quiet, melancholy reflection on the cost of war wrapped inside one last conflict. Three episodes, no filler, and it lands the ending. Worth your afternoon.
