📖 SYNOPSIS

As the most popular girl in school, Mona Kawai has never had to try to get someone's attention — people just gravitate to her. Then Medaka Kuroiwa transfers in, and he genuinely could not care less. Not in that cool, aloof way. The guy is a monk-in-training with actual vows against romance, and he treats Mona's charm offensive like it's a spiritual test he needs to pass. This TV series picks up right where season one left off, with Mona doubling down on increasingly creative schemes to crack Medaka's composure, while he white-knuckles his way through every interaction like maintaining his vows is a full-contact sport. The comedy lives in that tension — she's pulling out every trick she knows, and he's over there internally chanting sutras to stay focused. But what keeps it from being one-note is that both of them are clearly changing. Medaka's resolve isn't as bulletproof as he pretends, and Mona starts realizing this stopped being a game a while ago. If you liked the mind games in Kaguya-sama: Love is War or the persistent teasing dynamic in Teasing Master Takagi-san, this hits a similar sweet spot — except the barrier isn't pride, it's an entire religious lifestyle. The premise sounds like a gag, but the character work underneath gives it actual weight. It's a romance where one person is literally training themselves not to fall in love, which makes every small moment of weakness land that much harder.
