A cynical, isolated high schooler named Koyomi Araragi is just starting to come out of his shell after befriending the class overachiever Tsubasa Hanekawa. Then he stumbles across a legendary vampire — Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade — lying in a pool of her own blood with her limbs hacked off. Against every survival instinct he has, he offers himself to save her. He wakes up as a vampire. Now, to get his humanity back, he has to track down three dangerous vampire hunters who are carrying Kiss-Shot's severed limbs and somehow take them back.
