EPISODE CONTEXT
As the first of twelve episodes, this premiere exists entirely to lay emotional groundwork—establishing Hotaru's grief, his creative block, and his key relationships before the titular Kinoko Inu enters the picture. Everything here is setup for the healing arc that will define the season. Subsequent episodes should shift the dynamic considerably as the mysterious mushroom pup arrives and begins reshaping Hotaru's world.
