EPISODE CONTEXT
Arriving at episode 8 of 24, the Joestar group is deep into their Egyptian gauntlet, having just overcome Mariah's magnetic Stand assault in the preceding episodes. Alessi represents the next obstacle in an escalating series of DIO's assassins, each testing different members of the crew in increasingly personal ways. This first part establishes the threat and sets up the resolution in 'Set's Alessi, Part 2,' maintaining the two-episode encounter structure that defines much of the Egypt arc's pacing.
