A rebellious teenager, Jotaro Kujo, must journey across the globe to defeat an ancient vampire and save his family from a deadly curse caused by malevolent spirits.

📖 SYNOPSIS

A rough-around-the-edges high schooler named Jotaro Kujo locks himself in a jail cell because he thinks he's possessed by an evil spirit. Turns out, it's actually a Stand — a psychic fighting avatar tied to his willpower — and its awakening is connected to the return of Dio Brando, an immortal vampire who's been a thorn in the Joestar family's side for over a century. When Jotaro's mother develops a Stand she can't control, slowly killing her, the only cure is taking Dio out. So Jotaro, his grandfather Joseph, and a crew of Stand users set out on an overland journey from Japan to Egypt to end things.

This is where JoJo's Bizarre Adventure earned its reputation. The Stand system is one of the most creative power concepts in shounen — every enemy has a completely different ability, so fights become puzzle-solving as much as brawling. David Production nails the distinctive art style with its bold lines and dramatic posing, and the soundtrack mixes rock references with orchestral intensity in a way that just fits.

The 24-episode first half (a second season follows) covers the journey's early legs, and the pacing keeps things moving with a new Stand battle almost every episode. If you liked the strategic fights in Hunter x Hunter or the raw physicality of Fist of the North Star, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Persona 5: The Animation will also recognize the Stand concept's DNA — Persona literally borrowed from it.

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You loved Part 1–2 and want to see Stands replace Hamon as the new combat system
Creative villain-of-the-week fights with unique Stand powers are your thing — there's 24 episodes of them
You enjoy globe-trotting adventures — the Joestar crew travels from Japan through Asia and beyond
David Production's bold color shifts, dramatic poses, and over-the-top humor hit your sweet spot

❌ SKIP IF...

You dislike episodic monster-of-the-week structures — the journey formula repeats often across 24 episodes
You're expecting deep villain backstories — most enemy Stand users here are fairly one-dimensional
You want a chatty protagonist — Joutarou's stoic one-liners aren't for everyone's taste
