In 1999, Jotaro Kujo seeks out his grandfather's illegitimate son, Josuke Higashikata, to confront a new Stand-user threat in the seemingly peaceful Morioh City.

📖 SYNOPSIS

On the surface, the quiet Japanese town of Morioh seems like the kind of place where the biggest news is a new convenience store opening — until everything starts happening at once. Josuke Higashikata is a high school freshman with a pompadour he will fight you over and a Stand called Crazy Diamond that can restore broken things to their original state. When Jotaro Kujo shows up to tell Josuke he's actually part of the Joestar bloodline, the two discover that a mysterious Bow and Arrow has been creating new Stand users all over town, and not all of them are friendly.

What makes Diamond Is Unbreakable different from the earlier JoJo parts is the setting. Instead of globe-trotting adventures, this is a 39-episode TV series locked into one small town, and the show leans into that. You get these weirdly cozy slice-of-life stretches — hanging out at Italian restaurants, dealing with annoying neighbors — that suddenly snap into creative, strategic Stand battles where the powers are so specific and strange that brute force almost never works. David Production's bold color palette shifts between scenes like a mood ring, and the soundtrack pulls from genres you wouldn't expect.

If you liked the investigative arcs in Hunter x Hunter or the neighborhood-level supernatural stakes of Yu Yu Hakusho, this hits a similar frequency. It's also a solid entry point if earlier JoJo parts felt too linear for you. The vibe here is less "save the world" and more "protect your weird little town from the serial killer who lives down the street."

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You love creative Stand battles that reward strategy and cleverness over raw power
A small-town mystery setting with a serial killer arc sounds more fun than globe-trotting quests
You enjoy slice-of-life vibes mixed with supernatural fights—Morioh's community is the real star
Josuke's healing-based Stand and laid-back personality feel fresh after Jotaro's stoic Part 3 lead

❌ SKIP IF...

Non-stop high-stakes action is what you want—39 episodes include plenty of low-key detours
You prefer a consistent tone and the shift between goofy filler-ish episodes and dark arcs bugs you
Lower-scale threats bore you—this arc's danger is local, not world-ending like Stardust Crusaders
