Synopsis

When a boys-only school in the Japanese countryside decides to trial a co-ed arrangement by inviting girls from a nearby all-girls school to live on campus for a month, the results are predictably chaotic. Yuusuke Takazaki is a pretty normal guy caught in the middle of this, flanked by his three spectacularly useless friends — the Baka Trio — who collectively lose their minds the moment girls enter the picture. Then a cheerful girl named Midori shows up, immediately hugs Yuusuke like she's known him her whole life, and insists they share some deep connection he has absolutely no memory of. That's the setup, and it gets messier from there. Green Green leans hard into the awkward, hormonally-charged chaos of boys who have genuinely forgotten how to interact with girls, which produces more cringe comedy than genuine romance for most of the runtime. The Baka Trio in particular exist purely to cause problems and suffer consequences, which is funnier than it sounds. If you watched Love Hina and wanted something looser and less plot-driven, this fits that space. Fans of early 2000s ecchi comedies like To Love-Ru will also find familiar territory here. It is not a deep show — the 12-episode runtime keeps things moving without much weight behind them — but as a breezy, dumb, youthful comedy about teenagers navigating a weird social experiment, it does exactly what it sets out to do.
